Summary: Join us for this quick episode as we go over the 4 questions that can be tremendously impactful for yourself or your business.
John (Intro):
I have been on a quest to learn everything I can about leadership obsessed with what makes the best leaders so good. After running companies small and large for the last 20 years, today I speak on stages all across the world to audiences who are interested in that same question. My name is John Laurito and I’m your host. I invite you to join me on this journey as we explore this topic: What makes the best leaders so good? Welcome to Tomorrow’s Leader.
John:
All right, welcome to today’s episode of Tomorrow’s Leader, where we dive deep on all things leader related, related to leading yourself and leading others. I’m John Laurito, your host. And today I bring you a very special broadcast that will be probably our shortest yet, but it will be one of the most impactful because I’m going to give you four questions that I absolutely encourage you to use, especially this time of the year, the end of the year. You’re starting to think about 2021 and all the great things that you and your organization are looking to accomplish.
John:
There’s an exercise I’ve gone through every single year, and it always brings up ideas and massive change in the right direction. And I want you to take out a sheet of paper if you can. If you’re driving and worry about it. But just play this back at some other point where you can write down and just draw a line through a piece of paper where you’re drawing four boxes on a piece of paper, a vertical line in a horizontal line, and you’re basically filling in for boxes with the top of each box with one question on the top of each box. I’m going to give you these four questions. And if you ask these questions and then brainstorm the answers, you will come up with the makings of a fantastic game plan. I don’t care if it’s for business, if it’s personal, whatever it may be, you’re going to come out of here with some game-changing ideas and strategies, new habits, everything.
John:
So the first one is what are the things that I am doing right now, or we are doing right now, that we have to keep doing? So what are we doing now that we need to continue to make sure under every circumstance, any circumstance, we continue to do? The good stuff that’s happening, the things that have moved us in a positive direction. What are we doing right now that we do not want to get rid of? The second one is what are we doing right now that we need to stop doing, OK? What are the things that we’re doing right now that we need to stop doing, OK? That’s key. OK, this could be habits, could be systems that you have. These could be ways of approaching different problems. It could be people that you have whatever
it may be. What do we have right now that we need to stop having? What are we doing right now that we need to stop doing, OK? The third quadrant is, what are the things that we are not doing right now that we need to start doing? OK, what are the things that we are not doing right now that we need to start doing or what do we not have that we need to have? OK, what do we not have or what are we not doing that we need to start doing? OK, that’s the third and then the fourth, if you may have possibly guessed this, what are we not doing that we need to continue to not do? OK, what do we don’t have that we need to continue to avoid? OK, so those are the four magical questions that will produce unbelievable answers. And I guarantee you’ll at least get the makings of one or two new things you’re going to be doing next year. Changes or big or small changes are going to make that are going to make a huge difference.
John:
And I’ll go through those four with you one more time. What are the things that I’m doing right now that I need to continue to do? What are the things that I am not doing that I need to start doing? What are the things that I’m doing that I need to stop doing? And then what are the things that I am not doing that I need to make sure I continue to not do? Apply that to yourself or apply that to your organization. Again, those four questions will bring up unbelievable ideas, answers, and action steps to make 2021 the best year you have ever had. So as I’ve promised, this I think will go on record as the quickest episode of Tomorrow’s Leader because I’m all about time management in 2021
John:
It’s all about saving you time and my time. If I got something, a golden nugget, I’m going to give it to you and I’m going to take three minutes and 50 seconds to give it to you. Not ten minutes. How about that?
John:
All right. See I under promised and over delivered hopefully. And that should be your theme 2021. How about that? All right. Well, thank you for joining today. Hope you enjoyed it.
